Sewing is in fashion. Over the past few years both sewing and knitting have been incorporated into our homes like a new form of yoga.
Programs like ‘Maestros de la Costura’ (Sewing Masters in English, a Spanish program which is soon to air its second season), The Great British Sewing Bee and the hit television series “El Tiempo entre Costuras” (a story about a seamstress who finds herself involved in a web of espionage during the Spanish Civil war) have all elevated the value and perception of handicrafts.
People like to follow the trends and to be in fashion. However, this is not always possible because it´s difficult to find what we want or because the prize. Fashion tends to be the personalization of clothing and accessories. So that what you wear is perceived as special and differentiates you from others.
Sewing is in fashion
Learning to sew is the perfect choice for creating unique items. And best of all, ones that have been made by you. When somebody says to you, how lovely! And you reply: “I made it myself” The sensation you feel is priceless and incredibly satisfying.
We want to share our dreams, experiences and passion for sewing with you so that you can enjoy it as much as we do.
At Katia Fabrics we want to accompany and guide you through the learning process to your fantastic new hobby: sewing.
To help you, we have created a series of tutorials to make starting easy.
In this post we show you how to follow and interpret the Katia Fabrics patterns.
And in this other post, how to apply the paper pattern onto the fabric and cut it out correctly.
At Katia Fabrics we have designed a large variety of sewing patterns with step by step instructions for making each item. We also offer a fabric collection so you can choose which one you like best for each project. Poplin, jersey, sweatshirt fabric and canvas, featuring a range of different print designs, for all tastes and styles.
You can also take a look at our Youtube channel where we frequently upload videos showing the full process of how to make a particular garment or accessory. This is a useful way to take note of each step if you are just starting to sew.
Choose a pattern, a gorgeous fabric to make it up in and start to create something amazing.
What are you waiting for to get started! As the saying goes: Everything is plain sailing from here!
