Step-by-step instructions to make the weave:

Step 1: Beginning

  • Start weaving 3 cm of plain weave. Now that the fabric is stable, finish off the beginning of the work.
  • Continue working plain weave until you have approximately 90 cm of fabric on your loom. Use a stitch marker to measure your progress. Once you have achieved the desired length, finish off the end of the piece.
  • Remove the fabric from the loom.

Finishing touches and creating the bag:

  • Weave in the ends of the warp.
  • Hold the beginning and end of the fabric together and sew together using a visible seam.
  • Follow the chart to shape the bottom of the bag.
  • Finally, turn the bag inside out and sew the base along the inside.
  • Use an iron to press the folds of the base well and turn to sew the base from the inside.

Step 2: Making the straps

  • Cut two strips of fabric measuring 15 cm wide by 1.40 m long.
  • Fold each strip in half and sew along the long side with a seam allowance of 1.5 cm to create a tube. Turn the tube right side out and finish off the ends.
  • Mark the placement of the straps on the bag. Insert the scissors between the weft threads, open them and loosen the fabric to make room for the strap.
  • Pull the strap through the hole and make a knot to fasten. Adjust the knots to adjust the length of the straps.
