Triangular shawl with sequins and cables

Find out how to make a triangular shawl knitting several sections in different directions. Inspired by ancient shields, Alice suggests knitting a center section with Celtic cables in Cotton-Merino Tweed in a dark teal color, combining recycled cotton and Merino wool. This cabled center panel, sprouts wings knit with Casiopea, a sequined yarn, in a burgundy color. Next, the shawl grows along the wings’ diagonal side with a 2×2 rib border. The final detail of this triangular shawl with sequins and cables are some i-cord ties. For @brezelbutter the Cozy Protector shawl design “represents human warmth and empathy we should remember and defend during these times when we are separated  by a virus”.

“Knitting is like climbing a mountain” Alice @brezelbutter

I’m Alice, an avid French knitter since 2017. My Instagram @brezelbutter is like a diary for my knitting projects and works in progress. Although I learned to knit as a child, it took me a long time to dare to make my own designs. I simply started trying tricks, patterns, and stitches. And this is precisely what I love about knitting… At the beginning, you think, “I’ll never make something as pretty as what others make”. And then you learn how to do it! So, beyond the typical garter stitch shawls you knit as a beginner, my hands started making socks, colorwork and cabled projects. Every time I learn something new, I am surprised, excited, and extremely happy. Knitting is like climbing a mountain. When you’re at the bottom, it seems impossible to reach the top, but when you reach the summit, you surpass yourself, and you feel extremely proud.
