How to sew a carrot-shaped fabric bag

So you don’t miss a single step, we’ve prepared a step-by-step video tutorial where we show you how to make these simple and fun bags.

Step-by-step instructions:

  1. Download the pattern: Start by downloading and printing the carrot pattern. You’ll see it’s really easy to follow, perfect for beginners!
  1. Cut the fabric: Use the pattern to cut out the carrot shape from the orange fabric and the leaves from the green fabric. The seam allowance is already included.
  1. Add the leaves to the carrot: Sew one of the orange parts of the carrot to the green rectangle folded in half. Repeat the same step with the other two pieces.
  1. Sew the carrot: Sew the sides of the carrot, leaving a 2-cm gap without sewing around 2 cm from the join between the two pieces (orange and green).
  1. Tube to run the cord through: Turn the bag right side out and create a tube to run the cord through at the top and bottom of the 2-cm gap. Seam parallel straight stitches to create the tube.
  1. Add the cord: To finish, pass the cord through the opening and make a knot at each end so it doesn’t unravel. And your carrot-shaped bag is ready to use.

Customize your carrot bags:

The best thing about this project is that you can customize your carrot bags however you like. Use different tones of orange and green fabric, add details like buttons or sequins, or even embroider names to give a personal touch.
