Sylvie Wrap by @esmeandaven: Follow this free pattern to crochet a comfortable belted cardigan for girls

25 May, 2021

Hello! My name is Brynnan Foster and live in Chicago with my husband and four children. I am the owner of Esme & Aven, an online children’s boutique offering handmade clothing. Esme & Aven began as a way to pursue my passion for crochet and sewing. I am inspired by my children to create modern, beautiful, and comfortable garments. I have completed a small collection and work to add quality pieces to my library of patterns. One of my favorite parts of design is finding the perfect yarn. I love to travel and find new brands to collect as souvenirs. I was introduced to Katia Yarns when I was living in France and fell in love with its wide range of fibers and colors. When I saw this Katia Yoga yarn, I knew it would provide a luxurious drape perfect for a comfortable belted wrap cardigan, like this Sylvie Wrap.

belted wrap cardigan

Belted Wrap Cardigan

Sylvie is a sweet, belted wrap cardigan for children inspired by the luxurious and cozy chainette design of the Katia Yoga yarn. The Sylvie Belted Wrap Cardigan is an ideal light and cushiony layering piece.

The hem, lapel, neckline, and sleeve cuffs are worked perpendicularly to the main body and sleeves, respectively.

The Cardigan has long sleeves that are crocheted directly onto the main body and worked in the round, joining at the end of each round, for a seamless finish.

Two belt loops are crocheted flat in rows, using a single crochet stitch. Once complete, they are sewn to the back of the belted wrap cardigan. The belt is crocheted separately using the Tunisian simple stitch. It is drawn through the belt loops once complete.
