Follow the step-by-step instructions, from cutting the pieces to assembling the case, which is fastened with a snap button. ✂️ Materials needed

Steps to sew your memory game

1. Prepare the material

  • Cut 12 felt squares measuring 5 x 5 cm.
  • Cut 12 fabric squares measuring 4 x 4 cm, making sure there are 2 squares of each print.
  • Trim the edges of the printed fabrics using pinking shears to add a decorative touch.

2. Make the game pieces

  • Place each fabric square on a felt square and pin it.
  • Sew around the edges of each square with a straight stitch.

3. Sew the case to keep the pieces in

  • Cut the fabrics: one strip of recycled canvas measuring 13 x 40 cm and a second strip of printed fabric of the same size, as well as a square measuring 8 x 8 cm.
  • Decorate the case: cut the edges of the printed fabric square with the pinking shears and pin onto the canvas 7 cm from the edge. Sew a straight seam to attach the square.
  • Sew the strips: place the canvas and printed fabric strips with right sides facing each other and sew 1 cm from the edge around, leaving a 5-cm opening to turn it right side out.
  • Turn it right side out: turn the case so the right side is on the outside and turn all the corners well.
  • Shape the case: fold the case in half, pin the sides and sew with straight stitch.
  • Place the snap button: use an awl to make a hole 2 cm from the top edge and apply the snap button with the pliers.
