This holiday season we are featuring a tutorial that shows you how to sew a Christmas stocking. This is a simple project that can easily be made in an afternoon. Moreover, add your own decorations and accessories to create a unique and special touch to your home. Christmas stockings are a basic must-have item. Above all, for the little ones of the household who will be delighted to search inside them for sweets and gifts. Make more than one and get creative with different fabric and print combinations. Can’t you already imagine them hanging by the Christmas tree?
You will find plenty of wintry print inspiration in our Xmas collection, including snowflakes and skiing dogs.
We have used tonal grey and white fabrics from the Xmas collection to make the Christmas stocking.
Boot pattern and a rectangle 21.5 cm wide x 40cm long.
5 7/8” (15 cm) of ribbon.
Thread to match the fabric.
Ruler, paper and pencil
The first thing you must do after washing and pressing your fabrics is cut out all the pattern pieces.
Xmas Snowflakes fleece or sweat fabric
Cut 4 of the rectangular pattern pieces
Xmas Santa jersey fabric
Cut 4 of the Christmas stocking pattern
Cut 1 piece measuring 5 7/8 (15cm) in length.
All the pattern pieces already have a 0.5 cm seam allowance included unless otherwise indicated. Follow our step by step video tutorial with a full explanation showing how to sew the complete boot. You can hand sew the opening on the inside, using an blind stitch, for a better finish. Fold the boot as you prefer and give it a press. To finish, sew on the ribbon so you can hang it in that special place.
We would like to encourage you to sew other projects using our fabrics from the Christmas collection:
