Did you know that you can very easily embroider simple flowers on your knitted fabric? In this free tutorial, Koral Antolín @fabricadeimaginacion, cocreator of @studio.fi will explain how to easily embroider simple flowers on your finished pieces, to make them completely unique. In just a few simple steps, you can decorate your work with simple, beautiful embroidered flowers.

The materials you will need for one flower

 

merino 100 green blue

mohair cotton

Merino Baby color 97, Reseda Green.

  • Scissors
  • Blunt embroidery needle

Embroidery stitches you will use

  • Stem Stitch (A)
  • Straight Stitch (B)
  • Bullion Stitch (C)

How to embroider simple flowers step by step, by @studio.fi

To secure the strand to the knitted fabric, start from the wrong side of the work and go through a strand of yarn with the threaded needle. Pull until it stops.

Finish off each section of the flower with a knot on the back of the work.

Step 1. Embroider the stem using the Stem Stitch. Begin by making 5 Stem Stitches across 2 knit stitches each, then work the 6th stitch toward the left. To embroider the leaves, start from the back of the work, pull the needle out through the 3rd stitch and work one Stem Stitch towards the left, and another towards the right.

Step 2. Embroider the petals using the Straight Stitch and working around a single point.

Step 3. Embroider the center of the flower using the Bullion Stitch. Make the Bullion Stitch in the center of the petals after wrapping the yarn around the needle 15 times.

Repeat Steps 1 to 3 to create more flowers.
