{"id":93290,"date":"2018-03-08T10:46:15","date_gmt":"2018-03-08T09:46:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.katia.com\/blog\/interpreting-sewing-patterns-katia-fabrics\/"},"modified":"2023-06-14T10:21:02","modified_gmt":"2023-06-14T08:21:02","slug":"interpreting-sewing-patterns-katia-fabrics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.katia.com\/blog\/en\/interpreting-sewing-patterns-katia-fabrics\/","title":{"rendered":"Interpreting sewing patterns of Katia Fabrics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"tm5 Normal\"><span class=\"tm6\">Interpreting <\/span><u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.katia.com\/katiafabrics\/ES\/designs.html\"><span class=\"tm7\">sewing patterns<\/span><\/a><\/u><a><span class=\"tm6\"> is something that shouldn\u2019t be complicated, but there are many times when you have a magazine, book or sewing pattern in front of you and you just don\u2019t know where to begin.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"tm5 Normal\"><span class=\"tm6\">This is why we wanted to do this post so that we can explain to you what each of the parts of our sewing patterns are composed of.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"tm5 Normal\"><span class=\"tm6\">Our first<\/span><u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.katia.com\/katiafabrics\/ES\/index.html\"><span class=\"tm7\"> S\/S18 collection<\/span><\/a><\/u><a><span class=\"tm6\"> has more than 50 different garment and accessory designs to choose from.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"tm5 Normal\"><span class=\"tm6\">Each one comes in a paper envelope with the name and photograph of the design on the front.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"tm5 Normal\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-7132 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.katia.com\/blog\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/patron_w_fabrics-600x800.jpg?resize=600%2C800&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"sewing patterns\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<h1 class=\"tm5 Normal\"><strong><span class=\"tm8\">Sewing Patterns<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n<p class=\"tm5 Normal\"><span class=\"tm6\">The patterns are grouped together according to the level of difficulty and we have used three sewing machine symbols so you can identify each level: easy, intermediate and expert.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"tm5 Normal\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-7125\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.katia.com\/blog\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/iconos_maquina_coser-300x127.jpg?resize=300%2C127&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"sewing patterns\" width=\"300\" height=\"127\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"tm5 Normal\"><span class=\"tm6\">On the back you will find information of interest relating to each pattern.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"tm5 Normal\"><span class=\"tm6\">On the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">accessory patterns<\/span> the first thing that you will see is the item represented in an outline drawing format. This makes it easy to see the design and all its details clearly.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"tm5 Normal\"><span class=\"tm6\">Just below the drawing you will find the amount of fabric required to make the item and the specific model that we have used to made it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"tm5 Normal\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-7131 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.katia.com\/blog\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/20180228_154549-600x429.jpg?resize=600%2C429&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"sewing patterns\" width=\"600\" height=\"429\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"tm5 Normal\"><span class=\"tm6\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"tm5 Normal\"><span class=\"tm6\">For the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">clothing patterns<\/span>, on the other hand, you will see the line drawings of both the front and the back. Just below you will find the measurement chart, in centimetres, so you can identify your size. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"tm5 Normal\"><span class=\"tm6\">You will also find a silhouette showing all the sizes available for each pattern marked on it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"tm5 Normal\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.katia.com\/blog\/en\/interpreting-sewing-patterns-katia-fabrics\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-7126 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.katia.com\/blog\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Patrones_katia-600x434.jpg?resize=600%2C434&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Patrones_katia\" width=\"600\" height=\"434\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"tm5 Normal\"><span class=\"tm6\"><strong>Baby<\/strong>: 1-3m, 3-6m, 6-9m &amp; 9-12m<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"tm5 Normal\"><span class=\"tm6\"><strong>Little<\/strong>: 12-18m, 18-24m, 2-3Y &amp; 3-4Y<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"tm5 Normal\"><span class=\"tm6\"><strong>Kids<\/strong>: 5-6Y, 7-8Y, 9-10Y &amp; 11-12Y<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"tm5 Normal\"><strong><span class=\"tm6\">Woman\/<\/span><span class=\"tm6\">man<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"tm6\">: <\/span><span class=\"tm6\">XS<\/span><span class=\"tm6\">, S, M, L, XL &amp; XXL<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"tm5 Normal\"><span class=\"tm6\">On all the patterns you will also find a description of what each pattern includes: <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"tm5 Normal\"><span class=\"tm6\">\u2013 Full size pattern in the corresponding sizes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"tm5 Normal\"><span class=\"tm6\">\u2013 Step by step instructions in 6 languages (Spanish, English, German, Italian, French and Dutch).<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"tm5 Normal\"><strong><span class=\"tm8\">Inside the sewing pattern<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"tm5 Normal\"><span class=\"tm6\">Inside you will find the full size pattern and the step by step instructions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"tm5 Normal\"><span class=\"tm6\">For the clothing patterns each size comes in a different colour so that you can easily identify your own size.<br \/>\nYou will also see a <\/span><strong><span class=\"tm8\">symbol<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"tm6\"> key on the pattern itself, the most used symbols being:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"tm5 Normal tm9\"><span class=\"tm6\">&#8211; Fabric direction: Indicates the position of the selvedge when you are placing the pattern pieces on the fabric so they are cut correctly.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"tm5 Normal tm9\"><span class=\"tm6\">&#8211; Cut on the fold of the fabric: When this symbol appears you must have the fabric folded.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"tm5 Normal tm9\"><span class=\"tm6\">&#8211; Button: Indicates where you must position the button on the garment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"tm5 Normal tm9\"><span class=\"tm6\">&#8211; Buttonhole: Indicates where you must position the buttonhole on the garment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"tm5 Normal tm9\"><span class=\"tm6\">&#8211; <\/span><span class=\"tm6\">Notches\/stitch markers:<\/span><span class=\"tm6\"> Where you must make a mark or small cut in the fabric.
