Our first guest is St\u00e9phanie from @stephaline_made<\/strong>, an avid knitter and creator of step-by-step tutorials on YouTube. In this first #MyKatiaVersion<\/strong>, she makes her own version of a vest published in the 2013-2014 Fall-Winter Katia Sport 75 magazine<\/strong>. A classic design knit with Katia Azteca <\/strong>and Merino Tweed<\/strong>, adding new colors, combinations and tips to enjoy every stitch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My version of the Katia vest<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

I discovered this design <\/strong>when I became interested in Katia Azteca yarn<\/strong>. And I loved its rustic style, colorwork motif and V-neck: the perfect design for fall. I enjoy wearing vests over a shirt or long-sleeved T-shirt. It reminds me of strolls and hikes through fallen leaves, so I know I\u2019ll wear it a lot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pattern is very easy to knit:<\/strong> simple and fast with 5.5-mm <\/strong>needles. You start at the bottom and seeing the colorwork motif grow row by row is addictive.<\/strong> Once you start, you can\u2019t stop!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The yarns I\u2019ve chosen: Katia Azteca and Katia Merino Tweed<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

I love the yarns suggested<\/strong>: Katia Azteca<\/strong>, with its blended colors, and Katia Merino Tweed<\/strong>, with a rustic feel. Both are soft, easy to knit and machine-washable at 30\u00a0\u00b0C<\/strong>, which I appreciate a lot. They are also very warm and not itchy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What I like the most is that the different shades of Azteca allow you to create many colorwork combinations with the Merino Tweed. So, each version of the vest can have a completely different style!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My favorite color combinations<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

I love to play with colors <\/strong>to add different styles to the same design. For this vest, I have imagined several versions, from fall shades to softer, more wintry palettes.<\/strong> Each combination completely changes the character of the design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My tips to knit colorwork flat<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

For me, there are two key aspects when knitting colorwork: color dominance and yarn tension.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Color dominance<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s essential for the motif to stand out well on the background. I always hold the contrast-color motif yarn <\/strong>in my left hand and the main background color <\/strong>in my right. This way, the motif color goes under the main color and stands out more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Yarn tension<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Before each color change, I slightly tighten the stitches on my right-hand needle<\/strong>. They shouldn\u2019t be too tight or stacked on top of each other. This leads to a more uniform result, both on the right and wrong side of the work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
