With velvet fabric, the shine changes depending on the direction.<\/li>\n<li>Take your time to sew velvet precisely. Also, since it\u2019s a <strong>knit fabric<\/strong>, using a <strong>ballpoint needle<\/strong> is recommended.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Don\u2019t iron velvet<\/strong>, not even the seams. It\u2019s a very delicate fabric which will lose its shine if you\u2019re not careful when ironing. It\u2019s really easy to do!<\/p>\n<p>Choose a <strong>velvet fabric<\/strong> like the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.katia.com\/EN\/fabric-ochre-velvet-knit-elastic-velvet-2146-90.html?color=94-Teal-Green\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Velvet fabrics by Katia Fabrics<\/a> for its excellent texture and shine.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>\n<h3><strong> Cut the fabric:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Use the <strong>pattern to cut <\/strong>out the dress pieces. All the pieces except for the straps are cut on the fold.<\/p>\n<p>You need:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 front piece and 1 back piece<\/li>\n<li>1 front facing and 1 back facing<\/li>\n<li>2 straps<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li>\n<h3><strong> Seam the pieces:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Seam the dress pieces together<\/strong>. Use lots of pins to make sure that the fabrics are aligned correctly. Velvet tends to roll at the edges, so make sure all your seams are flat or the pieces won\u2019t fit together properly.<\/p>\n<p>After seaming the sides of the front and back pieces, seam the <strong>sides of the facings<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sew the dress straps<\/strong>. The straps are <strong>3\u00a0cm wide<\/strong>. Cut 2 straps measuring 45 cm long and 8 cm wide. Fold them in half and sew with 1\u00a0cm of seam allowance.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li>\n<h3><strong> Dress details:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Leave some <strong>openings at the sides <\/strong>measuring 35\u00a0cm.\u00a0Try on the dress to make sure it fits properly.
