Thanks to this design contest, we discover new talent and passionate designers like <\/span>@iratirita<\/span><\/a>. Irati Ugarteburu took part with two designs and was a finalist and winner in two categories. In this post, we share the pattern for her finalist design: the <\/span>Itsaso Sweater<\/span><\/i>, a seaside-inspired sweater knit with a combination of <\/span>Katia Azteca<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>Katia Merino Aran<\/span><\/a>. @iratirita, Katia Designers Awards 6 finalist<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

Hi! I\u2019m Irati. I started to knit at school when I was 9 or 10 years old, during crafts class. At the time, I knit a couple of shapeless scarves and left it there.\u202fA few years ago, I started watching crochet <\/span>tutorials<\/span><\/b> to make garments and I was hooked. I soon realized that I love knitting more. I signed up to a course given by <\/span>@solesilbando<\/span><\/a> to keep busy in the afternoons. Since then, I haven\u2019t stopped. I love knitting hats and sweaters. And lately, I knit garments for my friends\u2019 babies. I knit because it\u2019s entertaining and relaxing.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Itsaso, a sleeve-to-sleeve sweater<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

My design for <\/span>Katia Designers Awards<\/span><\/a> is a <\/span>sleeve-to-sleeve sweater<\/span><\/i> knit with <\/span>Katia Merino Aran<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>Katia Azteca<\/span><\/a>. Its name, Itsaso, means sea in Basque. That\u2019s the reason for the color choice and the <\/span>brioche<\/span><\/b> wave on the sleeves. A few years ago, I knit a sweater designed by <\/span>@sionaland<\/span><\/a> with a <\/span>sleeve-to-sleeve<\/span><\/i> structure and I loved it. Then, I was lucky enough to do one of Nancy Marchant\u2019s courses. I thought that a beautiful sweater could come out of combining both concepts, and here it is.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
