On my piece, the fringe is around 6\u00a0cm long. The final measurements are 23\u00a0cm long, from the ring to lower tip of the feather. And 14\u00a0cm wide, across the widest part of the feather.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Materials<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.katia.com\/EN\/yarns-all-macramecordfine-1271.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Katia Macram\u00e9 Cord Fine<\/a> color 200 (white): 1 bobbin<\/li>\n<li>Wooden ring, 4-5\u00a0cm in diameter<\/li>\n<li>Tape measure<\/li>\n<li>Scissors<\/li>\n<li>Comb<\/li>\n<li>Hairspray (optional)<\/li>\n<li>Adhesive tape (optional)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Which cord should you use?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>For this project, I use <a href=\"https:\/\/www.katia.com\/EN\/yarns-all-macramecordfine-1271.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Katia <em>Macrame Cord Fine<\/em><\/a> in white, which is about 2\u00a0mm thick. But you can also use <a href=\"https:\/\/www.katia.com\/EN\/yarns-all-macramecord-1230.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Katia <em>Macram\u00e9 Cord<\/em><\/a>, which is thicker, about 3\u00a0mm, to make a larger feather. It\u2019s important to use this kind of material since, because it is <strong>plied cord<\/strong> specifically for <em>macram\u00e9 projects<\/em>, we can easily <em>comb it <\/em>out.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-12359\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.katia.com\/blog\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/blogpics-felinacreativa-pluma2.jpg?resize=550%2C850&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Katia Macram\u00e9 Cord\" width=\"550\" height=\"850\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Knots and techniques<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Lark\u2019s head knot, Square knot &amp; Vertical lark\u2019s head knot<\/li>\n<li><strong>Combing<\/strong>: loosening the plies to make the fringe<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"1020\" height=\"574\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent&#038;listType=playlist&#038;list=PLIULs1uBn0uIYUQllTI8sUhH8_JNmB79M\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Step-by-step tutorial<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Notes<\/strong>: cut 4 cords measuring 1.60\u00a0m and 24 cords measuring 20\u00a0cm.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You can replace the <em>wooden ring<\/em> with a wooden bar and a cord tied around it.<\/li>\n<li>To keep the ends of the cords from fraying, wrap them with <em>adhesive tape<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong>Step 1<\/strong><strong>: Placing the cords<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Fold the 4 cords measuring 1.60\u00a0m in half and place them on the ring using a lark\u2019s head knot.<\/p>\n<p>You have 8 cords to work with.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Step 2<\/strong><strong>: Diamonds<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Make a <em>square knot<\/em> with the 4 center cords, leaving 2 cords loose on each side.<\/p>\n<p>Work a diagonal row of vertical lark\u2019s head knot, from the center towards the right. Use the right center cord as a guide and the 3 right-hand cords to tie the knots.<\/p>\n<p>Repeat towards the left.<\/p>\n<p>Make a <em>double square knot<\/em> in the center of the diamond. Double the cords to tie the knots and use 2 center cords as a guide.<\/p>\n<p>Work a diagonal row of <em>vertical lark\u2019s head knot<\/em>, from the right towards the center. Use the far-right cord as a guide. This is the same <strong>guide cord<\/strong> as the previous rows of vertical lark\u2019s head knots. Repeat on the left side to close the diamond.<\/p>\n<p>Make 2 more diamonds: repeat the previous process, ending with a square knot.<\/p>\n<p>Cut the cords leaving around 6-7\u00a0cm from the last knot.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-12360\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.katia.com\/blog\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/blogpics-felinacreativa-pluma-3.jpg?resize=550%2C850&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"macram\u00e9 fringes\" width=\"550\" height=\"850\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Step 3<\/strong><strong>: Fringe<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Prepare the 24 cords measuring 20\u00a0cm each.<\/p>\n<p>Fold each cord in half and tie with a lark\u2019s head knot to the loops on the sides of the center pattern.<\/p>\n<p>There are 3 groups of 4 knots on each side of the project in total.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Comb the cords<\/strong> until they loosen.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cut the fringe<\/strong> following the rounded shape of a feather.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Finishes<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Optionally, you can spray the fringe in place with some hairspray.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This Valentine\u2019s Day, fall in love with macram\u00e9!
