How is the <em>jacquard <\/em>pattern worked? Really easily: You are going to to knit <em>jacquard<\/em> borders whilst working, without having to follow graphs or make any colour changes. This yellow coloured section marks the start of each one of the socks. You only have to cut the yellow part (which then unravels) and start your first sock with the<strong> base colour<\/strong>. Pull the yarn firmly to the back of the work circling the needle from above. Turn the work.<\/li>\n<li>Short Row shaping (follow explanation). Work the rest of the stitches in purl stitch. Turn the work.<\/li>\n<li>Short Row Shaping. Work in knit stitch until arriving at the last double st which is left unworked on the LH needle. Turn work.<\/li>\n<li>Short Row Shaping. Work in purl stitch until arriving at the last double st which is left unworked on the LH needle. Work the stitches on needle 1 and the extra needle on the right. Turn work.<\/li>\n<li>Short Row Shaping. Work the stitches on the extra needle in purl st. Turn work.<\/li>\n<li>Short Row Shaping. Work in knit st as far as 1 stitch after the double st (knit as a single stitch). Turn work.<\/li>\n<li>Short Row Shaping. Work in purl st as far as 1 stitch after the double st. On needles 1 and 3: K1, slip 1 st, K1, pass the slipped st over the last knitted st. Work the remaining sts in knit st.<\/p>\n<p>On needles 2 and 4: Work in knit st until the last 3 stitches on the needle. Then K2 tog, K1.<\/p>\n<p><strong>R2-3:<\/strong> Work all sts in stockinette st.<\/p>\n<p><strong>R4<\/strong>: Work the same as R1.<\/p>\n<p><strong>R5<\/strong>: Work all sts in stockinette st.<\/p>\n<p><strong>R6<\/strong>&#8211;<strong>11<\/strong>: Repeat R4 and R5.<\/p>\n<p><strong>R<span style=\"color: #800080;\">12-16<\/span> (<span style=\"color: #339966;\">12-17<\/span>)<\/strong>: Work as R1.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-7762\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.katia.com\/blog\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/05-Symmetric-Socks-close-toe-600x600.jpg?resize=600%2C600&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"How to knit socks\" width=\"600\" height=\"600\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There now remain 2 stitches on each needle. Cut the yarn and pass it through all the stitches (preferably two times). Pull the yarn firmly and sew down to secure in place to make sure that the toe does not open up. The length of the foot is now a total of 2<span style=\"color: #800080;\">9 7\/8\u201d (25 cm)<\/span>, <span style=\"color: #339966;\">10 7\/8\u201d (27.5)<\/span> cm and your first sock is finished.<\/p>\n<h2>Second sock<\/h2>\n<p>Unravel your ball of yarn until you arrive at the yellow part then start the second sock repeating the step by step instructions of the first.
