Voile fabrics in solid colors and prints to sew this summer

22 April, 2022

The term “voile” comes from French and means veil. It is an extremely light fabric, slightly transparent, and with a multitude of different applications. Its appearance is very similar to poplin fabric, but thinner and lighter. Because it is such fine fabric, it is used in all kinds of designs, also for garments with a double layer of fabric, with ruffles, gathers or drawstrings, and finally as a lining. A fresh and summery fabric where they exist to sew spring/summer garments and accessories. Enjoy sewing with one of our Katia Fabrics proposals: plain in organic cotton or with a pretty Liberty-inspired flower print.

Plain voile fabrics

In plain colors, we present the Voile Cotton, whose composition is 100% organic cotton and has the Oeko-Tex certification. Available in 8 cheerful colors to combine with any of the voile prints or our classic poplins. A fabric widely used to sew summer garments such as nightgowns, camisoles, baby skirts, double-layer dresses, etc. Being so fine, it is the perfect fabric for making skirts with a lot of gathers or decorations such as ruffles, drawstrings, or gathers.

Here you can see how we have used it to sew all the diaper cover panties of the following sets.
