My name is Mely Raya (winner of the Katia Designers Awards 3, Crochet Accessories category), I’m a teacher and I live in Almería. I’ve been doing crochet, which I learned thanks to tutorials on social networks, for 8 years now. First and foremost, I like simple patterns made with calmness, care, lit candles and cups of tea. Therefore, I would like to share with you how to crochet the Verbena Shawl. This is a lineal triangular shawl featuring a combination of relief stitch and openwork eyelet stitch patterns. As I always comment to the students in my workshops: the real secret to creating a beautiful project is to choose quality yarns in beautiful colour combinations. There is no doubt that a ball of Funny Rainbow Star has all the right ingredients required to achieve this: a high yield, pastel cotton shades and a shiny touch.
Triangular shawl
A couple of years ago, I started to slow down my pace of life. So, I began to spend much more time crocheting at home. Furthermore, together with Emma – weaver, illustrator and a mother like me – we began to create a much more welcoming and homely place in the world in the form of ‘Tricotados con Amor’ (crocheted with love). As a consequence, I want the Verbena Shawl pattern to add a touch a fun (almost festive) while you crochet. In addition, its tassels and the shiny yarn transform it into an ideal accessory for special nights and summer festivals. To sum up, I hope you love it, enjoy the pattern and share the results with me on Instagram @funambulista1752
