If you´re a fan of granny squares, you´re going to love this! Learn how to make a matching mittens and cowl set with mini granny squares. The cowl is 2-in-1, so you can wear it as a hat too! This unique design is made by @yenkinsandyenkins, one of the finalists of the Katia Designers Awards 6. Countless talents took part in our Katia Designers Awards 6 and inspired us with their ideas. @yenkinsandyenkins is one of the talented designers who made it to the finale, and today she´s sharing her patterns with us.

My name is Elena González Villafranca (Leni) and I´m behind @yenkinsandyenkins on Instagram. I am delighted to take part in the Katia Designers Awards contest! I have always been very into crafts, and thanks to my mother and grandmother I became a crocheter. When I moved away to college, I happened to live above a yarn shop… I couldn´t be happier!

Mini granny squares mittens and cowl set

For the Katia Designers Awards 6 I have designed several crochet accessories: mini granny squares mittens and a matching cowl-hat. This cowl-hat is a 2-in-1 design, as the cowl can be turned into a hat very easily. With just one item, you will always have a cowl and a hat with you! The inspiration of this unique piece came by itself while working on the cowl. For the mini granny mittens and cowl, I have used Katia Basic Merino which is very soft and warm. So, I hope you like it as much as I do!
