Which is why we are showing you how to make an individual placemat with matching serviette in today’s post. So you can proudly present your handmade table look this Valentine’s day. Play with different fabrics and prints to create your own personal touch. Above all, learn and enjoy yourself with this step by step video tutorial.

With this tutorial we are going to show you a quick and easy to make project that will take you no longer than an afternoon. It’s an original way to dress your table for Valentine’s day, or any other day.

Individual placemat with matching serviette

You only need two fabrics, wadding, elastic and some card to make this individual placemat and matching serviette.

It is so easy to sew and you can make them for all the family in different shapes and designs.

Materials:

• 11 3/4″ (30cm) of Fabric A: North scape Poplin fabric  and 11 3/4″ (30cm) of Fabric B: North scape Poplin coord. It is important to wash and iron both fabrics before starting to work with them.

• 3 7/8”(10 cm) of elastic measuring 5/8” (1.5 cm) wide

• Cardboard Heart patterns

• Sewing thread to match the fabric

Tools:

• Scissors

• Safety pin

• Pins

• Iron

• Sewing machine

• Ruler, paper and pencil

CONFECTION

Fabric A:

• Cut 2 rectangles measuring 12 1/4″ x 16 1/8”(31cm x 41cm)

• Cut out the medium heart pattern 2 times, adding a 1/4″ (0.5 cm) seam allowance around the edges.

Fabric B:

• Cut 1 rectangle measuring 2 1/4″ wide x 11” long (5.5 cm x 28 cm).

• Fabric B Cut out the large heart pattern, adding a 1/4″ (0.5 cm) seam allowance around the edges, 2 times.

• Cut out the small heart pattern, adding a 1/4″ (0.5 cm) seam allowance around the edges, 2 times.

Wadding:

• Cut 1 rectangle measuring 12 1/4″ x 16 1/8”(31cm x 41cm)

• Wadding Cut out 1 large heart pattern piece

• Cut out 1 medium heart pattern piece

• Cut out 1 small heart pattern piece

All the pieces already have the 1/4″ (0.5 cm) seam allowance included, unless stated otherwise.
