We are Ingrid and Marjan, a creative mother and daughter duo. A few years ago we picked up our crochet hooks and knitting needles again and since that day we have been crocheting and knitting together. We prefer to make accessories and decorations in our favorite colors. Blankets, pillows, baskets, scarves, hats and shawls… we make it all! Mix & Match design

For this design we´ve used Katia Fair Cotton which is a 100% organic and high quality cotton yarn. It´s produced according to fair-trade norms by small farmers in India and Tanzania. The potholders consist of a front and back which are then worked together. The colorful stripes and stitches worked in the back loops result in a beautiful texture. Materials

• 2 balls of Katia Fair Cotton:
  A. 16 Turquoise
  B. 29 White-green
• Crochet hook 3.0mm
• Tapestry needle
• Scissors

Stitches

• ch: chain
• sl st: slip stitch
• sc: single crochet
• dc: double crochet
• blo: back loop only
• st: stitch
• r: row

Measurements: 17.5 x 17.5 cm

Gauge: 20 st x 14 rows = 10 x 10 cm

Note: Turning chains do not count as a stitch

Pattern

Front (make 2)

With color A, ch 33
R1: 1sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across, turn (32)
R2: ch 2, 1 blo dc in each st across, turn (32)
R3: ch 1, 1 sc in each st across, turn (32)
R4 – 5: repeat row 2 & 3 (32)
Change to color B
R6-10: repeat row 2, 3, 2, 3, 2 (32)
Change to color A
R11-15: repeat row 3, 2, 3, 2, 3 (32)
Change to color B
R16-20: repeat row 2, 3, 2, 3, 2 (32)
Fasten off, weave in ends.

Back

Make 2: 1x color A and 1x color B

Ch 33
R1: 1sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across, turn (32)
R2: ch 2, 1 blo dc in each st across, turn (32)
R3: ch 1, 1 sc in each st across, turn (32)
R4 – 20: repeat row 2 and 3 (32)
Fasten off, weave in ends.

Border 

Place the front and back with the wrong sides on top of each other. We will crochet on all 4 sides inserting the hook through both the front and back stitches.

R1: join yarn in the top right corner, 1 sc in each st across, (1 sc, ch 10, 1 sc) in corner, *2 sc on each side of the dc, 1 sc on each side of the sc* repeat across, 3 sc in corner, 1 sc in each st across, 3 sc in corner, *1 sc on each side of the sc, 2 sc on each side of the dc* repeat across, 3 sc in last corner, sl st in 1st sc. 

R2: ch 1, 1 sc in each st across, 10 sc in ch-10 sp, *1 sc in each st across, 3 sc in corner* repeat on next 3 sides, sl st in 1st sc.

Fasten off, weave in ends.
