1. Use the correct sewing thread

2. Basting stitch
Basting (or tacking) may seem tedious and boring. However, this hand sewing technique is sometimes necessary to achieve a better result after sewing the basted section on the machine. Use a special basting thread which can be easily found in haberdashery shops and is very easy to remove.
3. Sewing needle types
One of our most important tips is that you use the correct sewing needle for the type of fabric you are going to sew. Furthermore, ensure that the needle is not damaged in any way. A worn or damaged needle is going to cause you a lot of headaches. You can purchase sewing needles for fine fabrics, stretch fabrics, thick fabrics, leather etc.
4. Use the iron
The iron will become your best ally for each seam that you sew. It may seem like a boring chore, but it is a vital step throughout the sewing process and you will see the difference in your resulting projects.
